Neuromuscular Fellowship

The clinical neuromuscular fellowship program at UMMC provides ACGME-approved fellowship training in clinical diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders as well as electrodiagnostic testing. We have openings for one fellow per academic year. Candidates must have completed a neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or pediatric neurology residency prior to their start date.

Fellows work in a one-on-one setting with neuromuscular specialists in neuromuscular clinics, Muscular Dystrophy association clinic, and a multidisciplinary ALS clinic. He or she will also have at least three half days a week in the electrodiagnostic laboratory. Elective opportunities are available in autonomic testing, rheumatology and neuromuscular pathology. Our facility averages 1,500 EMGs/year. Our fellows engage in research and quality improvement opportunities as well.

We have two board-certified neuromuscular attendings, one with neurology backgrounds and one with Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation training and ABEM (American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine Certification.) Our program offers training for pediatric and adult patients. The faculty to fellow ratio is 1:1 allowing interactive and intensive teaching opportunities.
